Current Middle East Conflict & impact for travellers.

What you should do it you are travelling in, to or via the Middle East.
• Be aware of possible flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures and travel disruption.
• See Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) travel advice.
• See if you’re affected by a crisis abroad – GOV.UK. This includes advice on “how to prepare for a crisis” with suggestions on what you might include in your emergency supplies and “what to do in a crisis”
• Sign up to FCDO Travel Advice email alerts
• Follow advice from the local authorities
• Monitor local and international media for the latest information, including updates relating to airports and airspace that could close at short notice
• Stay away from areas around security or military facilities
• Keep your departure plans under review, and ensure your travel documents are up to date
• If you are advised to take shelter, stay indoors or find the nearest safe building or designated shelter. An interior stairwell or a room with as few external walls or windows as possible may provide additional protection. The greatest risk is from falling debris caused by intercepts, and you are safest inside a secure structure. Do not approach or touch any drone or missile fragments or unusual objects.

Travel insurance is a way to protect against unexpected events like illness, trip cancellations, or lost luggage.

When it comes to war and terrorism, travel insurance cover can be limited and often has exclusions and conditions. We may not cover some countries or areas because of security, geopolitical risks, sanitary conditions, or restrictions imposed by international authorities.

unless the loss is caused by nuclear, chemical or biological attack, or the disturbances were already taking place at the beginning of any trip.

• Your travel to a country, specific area or event when the Travel Advice Unit of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) or regulatory authority in a country to/from which you are travelling has advised against all or all but essential travel (cover will be excluded under all sections) other than claims arising from new FCDO advice resulting in you not being able to travel or cutting short the trip before completion, as provided for under Section 1 – Cancelling or cutting short a trip, unless the advice is issued in relation to war, terrorism or a pandemic).
